Some kids may think their own mothers and fathers are too old. As a matter of fact, almost every kid hears their parents say, “During my time …” or “Kids these days are so …”? Chances are, your parents are expressing some kind of generation gap that they cannot get a hold on as well. Maybe, your mom had given birth to you in her late 40s that the gap between you and her is quite wide. But there really isn’t anything wrong with that.

Studies have proven that the best time to raise children is within the ages of 40 up. The only problem is, mothers at this age are often caught up in their own angst and troubles that they sometimes fail to keep up with their children. Hence, the generation gap widens. Feeling the generation gap is inevitable in cases where your parents are already in their prime age. Unfortunately, some parents can be too busy that they forget how it is to be a child again. Basically for parents to understand kids, they have to be like them at least once in a while. Ideally, it is best for parents to take time to find out the things kids enjoy best. Listen to their kind of music, look at the clothes they like to wear, and get to know the friends they keep.   1. My son saw a cassette tape in one of the boxes stored in our attic. He asked me what it was and I explained to him what it was. He just could not imagine how music could come out of it.

  3. I have a daughter and she likes to invite her girlfriends over all the time. I make sure I spend some time with them so I know what they’re up to. Of course, I do it in a chummy way but this is one way for me to know more about what daughter does with her friends.

  4. I gave birth to my first child when I was 38 years old. Now, she is six years and navigates the computer effortlessly. I really get amazed by it. I guess that’s a generation gap in thinking.

  5. I make sure to understand my son all the time. I don’t just say “yes” or “okay” to get things over and done with. I really try to understand what he says. It gets pretty challenging at times.

  6. OMG…I say that all the time. Honestly, it’s so hard to understand why kids spend hours in front of the tv to play games. I don’t get the games at all. I used to spend the whole day reading a book. That was more affordable! Obviously, that’s a clear sign of generation gap. LOL
